The last two stages of the Internazionali d’Italia SX were held as per tradition during EICMA. Also consumed in the Motolive area was the first edition of the European SX single round.Our Filippo Zonta had to close the circle and bring home the maximum from this two-day event.
Since Saturday morning he showed he was on the ball and took the victory in both the heat and the main event of his category, the Supercross. His race conduct was always exemplary, even though he never started at the front he always set his pace routing the competition. With this victory he also won the European Supercross title.
Sunday another star day for him with another victory in the main event that gave him the Italian and Internazionali d’Italia SX titles. Here again he showed that he was superior to everyone by deserving all the titles he won. A weekend that will remain in his and the team’s history.
In the two Superfinals, on Saturday and Sunday, he took in order a second and a fourth place in a comeback. He certainly faced them when the big targets had been hit and a bit of relaxation was to be expected.
Now, with the races over, it is time for everyone to take a well-deserved rest. But the team leadership is already working on 2024. All the news for next season will be out in a few days.
FILIPPO ZONTA: “It was a very good weekend.
Coming back from the U.S. on Friday, I thought I would have to have a more running race on Saturday with jet lag. Instead I felt competitive, right from the qualifying heat which I then won. I managed to win the final well and win the European title as well as good points for the Italian internationals.On Sunday the feeling improved, I felt even more competitive.In the qualifying heat I moved up a few positions until I took the lead and won. In the final, on the other hand, I started second, then took the lead and took lap after lap a good margin to manage until the end.Two wins out of two days.European champion, International of Italy champion and Italian Supercross champion. To finish the season so positively is very nice and repays the difficulties throughout the year.
