The second round of the French Sand Series was a succesful one for us, as Cyril Genot won his first race in this championship while team Honda Motoblouz SR finished 1-2 with
Lars Van Berkel runner up at this round.
Due to heavy rain on Friday and Saturday the sand was wet at Magescq, and at the start of the race our riders were in front with a holeshot for Lars Van Berkel. Cyril Genot was leading after a few corners when the race was red flagged due to a big crash at the start. One hour later the riders lined up for another start and a shorter race – 1h30 instead of 2h30 – and once more our three Honda riders started in the top five with another holeshot for Lars. It didn’t take long for Cyril to take the lead, and from there no one was able to challenge him as he made a strong gap lap after lap to win his first race with us. Fighting for a podium result all race long, Lars won his duel to finish the race in second position behind his team mate! Improving his rhythm race after race, Jeremy Hauquier scores a fifth position despite a crash with a lapped rider.
We wish the injured riders a prompt recovery, and we will move to Loon next weekend for the third round of the series.
Josse Sallefranque: “A great weekend for team and Honda with this result, and a nice win for Cyril even if we would have preferred to fight with Milko Potisek who crashed at the start. Cyril did the job, he was always leading the race with a good gap and after working so hard since he joined us he deserved this win. Our bike performed well, at both start our three riders were in the top five; refuelling was OK, everyone in the team did a good job. We try always to improve and perform, we are now focus on the next round at Loon.”
