Torre d’Oristà hosted this weekend the last race of the Spanish Enduro Championship 2023. Jaume Betriu and Alex Puey were proclaimed Spanish E3 and Junior Open Champions respectively, two successes to which to add another podium for Cristóbal Solá in the race, 3rd Junior Open, and also the 3rd place of Oriol Solsona in the final classification of the National Junior Trophy Championship.
The race was very demanding, with a long rally and some timed special stages that due to the drought that the area is going through, were surrounded by a constant dense cloud of dust that forced the drivers to keep their concentration at all times.
After a fantastic final stretch of the season in the EnduroGP World Championship, Jaume Betriu managed to win a new Spanish Championship, the 11th of his career, by revalidating the E3 title. Betriu arrived at the Catalan lands as leader and started off very well on Saturday, winning the category with authority by more than half a minute over the second classified and finishing 5th Scratch, a very important triumph to face Sunday with a little less pressure, which scored double points. With some modifications to the course, the second day went as planned, Betriu masterfully controlled the tempo of the race, minimizing risks and without forcing the machine too much to avoid making mistakes that could compromise the title. Finally, 2nd E3 and a new Championship for him to further enhance his name in the national enduro. In addition, he was able to celebrate on the highest step of the podium thanks to the difference with which he managed to win on Saturday.
The other 2023 Champion of the team was Alex Puey, debutant in Junior Open and at the controls of a 125cc, has managed to take the throne in his first season in a category in which he competes against larger displacement bikes, which gives even greater merit to his Championship. Second on Saturday, on Sunday things were tight with several riders with possibilities to dispute the title, but Puey knew how to manage the race very well and finishing 3rd was enough to celebrate the Championship with the whole team on his arrival to the paddock.
Also in Junior Open, Cristobal Sola closed his best season in the Spanish Championship adding a new podium, 3rd after being 4th and 2nd in the two days. Lucas Godoy, who has shown a magnificent progression since his arrival from Argentina at the beginning of the year, completed the Championship with a 9th and a 7th.
In the E2 category Nico Kutulas, who has not had an easy season due to injuries, closed the course with some meritorious 6th and 5th places.
Also noteworthy was Oriol Solsona’s 2nd place on Sunday and his bronze medal in the Junior National Trophy division. In Junior 125cc, Inbar Zelinger closed his first season in the Spanish Championship taking 7th and 8th place respectively, while Oriol Roca, who rode this race with the team, was 6th and 5th.
WP Eric Augé closes another season that can be cataloged as very successful in the Spanish Championship, with a prominent role in the podiums of each race and the final titles of Jaume Betriu and Alex Puey, achievements that consolidate the structure as the clear reference both logistically and competitively in the Spanish Enduro Championship.
