Honda’s Dean Wilson (SX1) and Noah Ferguson (SX2) Dominate Round 1 of the Australian Supercross Championship in their respective classes!

Round 1 delivered both triumphs and challenges for Honda Racing across all three classes. In the SX1 class, reigning champion Dean Wilson of SCT Logistics Honda took the overall win, while his teammate Joey Savatgy, riding for Napa Auto Parts Honda, secured second place. Boost Mobile Honda’s Aaron Tanti finished just shy of the podium in fourth, marking a strong start for Honda’s 450 class contenders.

“It was a great way to kick off the 2024 championship. My bike and team are working perfectly, and I felt confident out there. I need to be mindful of my teammate, but overall, I’m happy with my performance,” said Wilson.

Savatgy, who took second place, played it safe and focused on his long-term goals for the season.

“Three days on the bike, including today, and I already feel good. The bike is excellent, and we’ve got a great team. It’s still a work in progress, but I didn’t want to push too hard, and Dean was quicker in certain sections,” said Savatgy.

In the SX2 class, Noah Ferguson claimed the overall victory on his Boost Mobile Honda. However, an unexpected collision in the second final involving three other Honda teammates disrupted what could have been an all-Honda podium sweep.

Team Director Yarrive Konsky praised Ferguson’s performance but expressed frustration over the incident.

“Noah rode brilliantly, and all of the guys showed great speed. But you can’t win races lying on the ground. The collision between three of our own riders is unacceptable, and we’ve addressed it. It won’t happen again,” said Konsky.

In the SX3 class, reigning MX3 motocross champion Jake Cannon rode a smart, calculated race to finish second overall. His speed and strategy throughout the day were impressive.

“Yarrive and I discussed the plan, and we executed it well. Second is where we were today, and it’s a solid foundation to build on,” said Cannon.
