Factory Honda Ready for Battle in the 2024 Australian Supercross Championship!

Factory Honda Australia is fully prepared with a formidable nine-rider lineup for the 2024 Australian Supercross Championship, competing across three classes. With three riders in the SX1 (450cc) class, five in the SX2 (250cc) class, and one in the SX3 (250cc) class, Honda’s Factory Team is ready to take on the competition.

SX1 (450cc Class)

Reigning Supercross Champion Dean Wilson returns to defend his title. The tenacious Scotsman, who resides in the U.S., has been a top contender worldwide and is determined to hold onto his championship. Competing for SCT Logistics Honda, Wilson is eager to help celebrate SCT Logisitics 50th anniversary with a win.

“I’ve been working hard all year for this. Everything I’ve done overseas has been with this championship in mind. It’s been over a decade since I raced with the number one plate, and I’m not ready to give it up. Plus, Honda has won the last six SX1 titles, so there’s pressure to keep that streak alive. Consistency and strong starts will be key,” Wilson shared.

Joey Savatgy will race for Napa Auto Parts Honda aboard the new 2025 CRF450R. Despite fierce competition from his teammates and local riders, Savatgy is focused on consistency in the 5-round championship, where double and triple final point-scoring races will prove critical to the overall.

“It’s been over a year since I last raced Supercross, and this week was my first time back on whoops. I need to be smart during these first two rounds since there are so many point-scoring opportunities,” said Savatgy.

Aaron Tanti, racing for Boost Mobile Honda, returns from his international campaign to chase the Supercross title that has slipped through his hands twice before.

“This is the one title I’ve yet to claim. It feels great to be back home, and I’m focused on winning the championship that I’ve narrowly missed twice due to small mistakes,” said Tanti.

SX2 (250cc Class)

Honda is launching its largest-ever 250cc campaign, fielding five riders and aiming for their fourth consecutive SX2 championship. New to the team this year is Shane McElrath, a two-time AMA 250 Supercross Championship runner-up, who will ride for Polyflor Honda alongside Brodie Connolly. Boost Mobile Honda’s Cole Thompson and Noah Ferguson, as well as Froth Honda’s Alex Larwood, round out the SX2 roster.

Connolly, who has had a challenging lead-up due to injuries, is aiming for solid results in the opening rounds.

“The last couple of international races didn’t go as planned, and preparing for both motocross and Supercross has been tough. I knocked my knee at the Motocross of Nations last week, so I’m not at 100%. My goal is to finish in the top 10 this weekend and build from there,” said Connolly.

SX3 (250cc Class)

Jake Cannon, racing for Mongrel Boots Honda, is determined to claim the SX3 title this year after a serious injury ended his 2023 season.

“Last year was tough with the injury, but I’m back, and I’m really hoping to finish on a high note and win the Supercross Championship,” said Cannon.
