C. I. MX Pro Prestige MX1 – 5a prova Castiglione del Lago

The fifth round of the Italian Prestige MX1 Championship was held in Umbria on the renewed track of Castiglione del Lago. Ivo Monticelli (Beta RX450) immediately got a good feeling with the track, setting the third fastest time in Saturday’s time practice behind Alessandro Lupino and Andrea Bonacorsi.
On Sunday Ivo started with the leaders in race one and moved up to second place at the halfway stage after overtaking Jan Pancar. Then after a few laps he was overtaken by the Slovenian and finished in third place right in the wake of the second. In race two he started fifth and in the first laps climbed up to third place with good pace, until he was hit by a doubled-up rider after a crash, Ivo however restarted and finished fourth. In the day’s classification he is fourth behind Lupino, Pancar and Bonacorsi.
Ivo Monticelli: ‘It was a very good training session in preparation for Turkey, in the first race I struggled a little in the first laps to get into a rhythm, then I started to push and after a battle for second position, I finished third very close to the Slovenian. In race two I was fifth after the start, I moved up to third place behind Lupino and Bonacorsi but a couple of laps later I had a small crash and unfortunately, I was hit by a doubled-up rider. I lost some time to restart, the clutch lever was also damaged, and I finished the heat in fourth place”
