Brent van Doninck makes a strong comeback in MXGP of Loket

Brent van Doninck of JM Racing Honda has made a strong comeback in the MXGP world championship in Loket. Van Doninck managed to finish eighth in the day’s classification with an eleventh and an eighth place in the motos.

Not counting Argentina, it had been a year since van Doninck had ridden a full Grand Prix. Of course he still lacks rhythm but the feeling on the bike was good. On Saturday, Van Doninck suffered a setback in the qualifying heat as he crashed during the first lap. Because the riders kept coming, it took a long time before van Doninck could walk back to his bike. Afterwards he picked himself up and rode well until the finish.

In the motos on Sunday, van Doninck got a very good start and rode well in the top ten for a long time in the first moto. He eventually finished eleventh and returned to the paddock satisfied. In the second moto he had a very good rhythm and was able to maintain the high pace. This earned him a strong eighth place.

With an 11-8 in the motos, Brent finished in eighth place in the day’s classification.

Delvintor Alfarizi was feeling himself well in Loket. In the qualifying heat, he got a good start and was riding well for a long time. Towards the end, he got a bit tired in the heat and finished twenty-fifth. In the first moto he again got a very good start and was well inside of the points when he collided with another rider in the early stages and crashed. Alfarizi dropped back to outside the top thirty but recovered well. He managed to make up several places but suffered a setback due to a mechanical problem and was forced to retire from the race.

For the second moto, he was riding with the spare bike and Alfarizi started the preparation with confidence. He got another good start but from the beginning he noticed that something was wrong with the bike. He did what he could but didn’t make it to the finish line in the end.

This weekend, the home Grand Prix of JM Racing Honda is scheduled in Lommel, Belgium.
