Brent van de Walle and Dex Kooiker of the De Baets MX team both finished on the podium last weekend. Van de Walle finished third in the Dutch Championship in Westerbork and Kooiker finished second in the ADAC 125 Cup in Vellahn.
The weekend started positively for Dex in Vellahn. He had a good feeling on the track and managed to set the fifth fastest time in time practice.
After a good start in the first heat, Dex managed to cross the finish line in third place. In the second moto he was not as good at the start, but he came back well and managed to finish second. In the third moto he started well again, but because it was difficult to overtake, he could only achieve a fourth place in this moto.
With these results he finished in second place.
Brent van de Walle started in the Dutch 125cc Championship in Westerbork. Brent’s day started well because in free practice he was the fastest rider on the track. He also managed to set a good time in the timed training and finished the session in third.
In the first moto he got a good start, but due to a mistake in the second corner he lost a number of places. During the race he came back well and crossed the finish line in fourth place on the rear wheel of the third man. In the second moto Brent again got a good start, but because someone fell right in front of him he had to brake hard. Despite this, he quickly regained third place and entered the battle for second place. Because Brent has only just gotten back on the bike after his injury, he couldn’t last all the way to the end and had to settle for third place.
With a 4-3 in the heats, Brent finished in third place in the daily rankings. This coming weekend the German Grand Prix in Teutschenthal is on the program for the De Baets MX team.
