Over the past weekend the MRT Racing Team Beta Factory made its stop in Mantova for the first round of the Italian Prestige Championship, where Ivo Monticelli (Beta RX 4T 450) lined up in MX1.
A great start for the rider who set the second fastest time in the timed practice of his group, ensuring him a start just next the first riders in race one. The first heat was lived with much adrenaline and the rider ended it in an optimum 4th position, very close to the third rider.
The good position gained in the first heat allowed Ivo to start among the top riders in race two. The rider was the author of an excellent start which led him to a good starting position, which was unfortunately lost due to some crashes during the heat. Ivo was forced to make a continuous comeback and managed to close the heat in 12th position.
Due to the overall good results, Ivo Monticelli finishes the Day’s Overall and Championship Classification in 6th position.
IVO MONTICELLI: “In race one I was 10th after the start and although I struggled with overtaking, after half a heat I felt better and climbed up to 4th place, very close to 3rd. In race two I had a good start, but in the first half of the heat I crashed three times. I recovered from the back of the pack and finished in 12th position. Overall the result was not what I expected, but it was good training ahead of the next round of the World Championship this coming weekend in Spain.
Next appointment for the second round of the MXGP Motocross World Championship in Arroyomolinos, near Madrid, on the weekend of March 24th.
