The Factory Honda team is geared up and raring to go for the 2024 Australian Motocross Championship, kicking off this weekend in Wonthaggi, Victoria.
With a powerhouse lineup of 7 Factory riders across 4 classes, Honda is poised for success. Boost Mobile returns as naming partners of MX1 and MX2 entrants Kyle Webster and Noah Ferguson respectively, showcasing their commitment to Honda and the championship.
Both Kyle and Noah have had stellar off-seasons and are primed to challenge for this year’s championships in their respective classes. Kyle, already boasting wins in 2024, can’t wait for the gates to drop in the MX1 class. “The off-season has been productive. We’ve notched up some wins and fine-tuned the bike. I feel prepared and I can’t wait for Sunday’s race,” he declared.
Noah anticipates stiff competition from his teammates, acknowledging that the season will be a tough battle. “It’s going to be a hard season, with my teammates posing the biggest challenge. I’ll need to be at the top of my game to come out on top. I feel confident, but time will tell if we’re truly ready,” Noah stated.
In the MX2 class, teammates Brodie Connolly on the Polyflor Honda and Alex Larwood on the Honda Genuine Froth Honda are ready to fight for victory. Brodie is determined to prove his worth after feeling he fell short last year. “I’m more prepared and focused this season, and I aim to demonstrate that from round 1 onwards,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, Alex, having battled injuries over the past two years, is taking a measured approach. “I don’t want to push too hard in round 1. It’s a long championship, and my goal is to secure a top 5 finish this weekend and steadily improve with each round,” Alex explained.
Wilson Todd, the team’s other MX1 rider on the Terrafirma Honda CRF450R, enters round 1 with a calm and open mindset, emphasising the importance of consistency. “I’ve tasted victory in this class before, and I understand the importance of consistency. We will see how this weekend goes and build on it as the championship progresses,” Wilson remarked.
Jake Cannon, the team’s sole MX3 rider, faces his debut race with the team this weekend after recovering from a serious injury he sustained last year. Despite limited preparation time, Jake is focused on securing points early on to remain competitive throughout the championship. “I am just looking forward to racing again,” said Jake Cannon.
Charli Cannon, the team’s sole female rider, is set to champion the CRF250R in the Women’s Championship. Despite a recent injury setback, Charli is eager to tackle the competition and hopes for a strong turnout from fans to support the racing action. “There is always strong competition, I am always nervous at the beginning of the season, but I am excited to go racing,” said Charli.
