Osterhagen and JM Honda Racing take podium position in Hawkstone Park

Hakon Osterhagen of the JM Honda Racing team has achieved a podium place in the international race at Hawkstone Park in the UK. Osterhagen left a very strong impression in the MX2 class and managed to finish third in the day’s classification with a 2-3 in the motos.

Osterhagen started the day convincingly by setting the fastest time on the clock in time practice. Maximilian Werner needed some time in practice to get used to the circuit and therefore did not achieved the perfect lap and had to be satisfied with the ninth time.

In the first moto, Osterhagen got a very good start and was in the lead in the first part of the race until he was passed by reigning world champion, Andrea Adamo. Osterhagen followed him well and went back on the attack. However, due to a small crash, he lost the connection and had to settle for second place. Werner also had a strong race. After he was relegated from fourth place to fifth position. Werner kept the pace high and managed to regain this position in the final phase and finished fourth.

In the second moto, both riders again got away well at the start. Osterhagen came back from around fifth place to third place but lost the connection due to a crash and finished third. Werner again had a good rhythm in his hands but because he comes from the 125cc class he still had some trouble with the long moto and had to drop the pace. Despite this, he managed to finish the moto in a neat sixth place. With these results he finished fourth in the day classification.

Brent van Doninck had to deal with a crash in both motos of the 450 class in the early stages, which forced him to ride a catch-up race. In the first moto he didn’t get any further than twelfth place, but in the second moto he managed to get a sixth place. Also in the super final, he ran into problems in the early stages, so he had to chase again. Van Doninck came back well and finished ninth.

From here, JM Racing Honda continues to build towards the approaching Grand Prix season and will be at the start of the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop next Sunday.
