Brent van Doninck of JM Racing Honda finished in eighth position in the second round of the world championship MXGP in Sardinia. Due to an arm injury he wasn’t completely fit for the start of the weekend so he didn’t knew what to expect. Despite this he finished eighth overall with a 9-8 in the motos.
Van Doninck had picked up an arm injury at the Dutch Masters of Motocross a week prior to the race. Despite this his riding went well in free practice. In time practice he made to many mistakes and couldn’t ride a perfect lap. Due to this he ended the session in fourteenth place. In the qualifying heat he took a really good start and came out of the first corner around third position. Due to a few mistakes he lost a few spots in the beginning of the race. Things were going well for him and he was riding a good heat to finally finish the race in fourth!
Unfortunately he was struggling to find a good flow on the track in the motos on Sunday. The track was difficult and fast. In the first moto he was riding too tight and this cost him a lot of energy. In the closing stages he lost two positions and finally finished the race in ninth place. In the second moto things were going better and this time he crossed the finish line in eighth place.
After two rounds he sits in twelfth position in the world championship standings. In two weeks from now the series continues at Frauenfeld in Switzerland.
